Kennesaw Square Dealers is most fortunate to have Ray Mauney as club caller. Ray began his square dance calling career in 1978 when he taught square dancing to a Sunday school class at the First United Methodist Church in Tucker, Georgia. This group formed a club that is now the Silver Stars. Ray has been calling and teaching square dancing ever since and continues to call for several area clubs, including our own Square Dealers. Ray and Mary Lou, his wife of 52 years, live in Blairsville, Ga. They spend most of the winter months in Marietta to be closer to their three children and seven grandchildren. We are proud to have Anne Gupton, the "Queen of Round Dancing", as our club cuer. The love of dancing brought Anne and Gup, her husband of forty years,
into teaching round dancing. The pair have been dancing together
since 1978. After many requests for them to
teach classes, they made the decision to give back to the dance
community. They became a teaching team. Robbie Roberts
became Anne's mentor and allowed Anne to cue for her round dance club.
In 1999, Anne was
chosen to be Kennesaw Square Dealers' cuer.
Anne and Gup have attended cuer college in New
Hampshire and are fully accredited.
